Escalating Global Awareness on Environmental Protection Boosts the Use of PAPER PALLETS
Paper Pallets Can Save the World
Global warming, El Nino, and extreme climate change have been the major issues the world is concerned about. The exhaust generated from burned wood pallets are claimed to be responsible for causing pollution to the Earth. With the escalating awareness on environmental protection today, a new type of “paper pallet” was introduced. This type of pallet cannot only replace the previous wood pallets as packaging material for fasteners, but can also remarkably deal with the problem of seeds or bug eggs unexpectedly contained in pallets, making it a popular product in the global fastener industry in recent years. So, what makes the paper pallet better than other similar products? Let’s take a closer look.
Traditional Wood Pallets are Not Friendly to Mother Nature
Although traditional wood pallet is stronger than others to withstand impact during delivery, it has drawbacks. Wood pallets used to be found to contain insects, bug eggs, or seeds, which might cause serious damage to the environment as well as effects on places where plants and animals live. As a result, the customs of many countries are very strict on examining these products. In addition, piles of abandoned wood pallets have to be shipped to incinerators for further treatment. Take Taiwan for example, the cost of handling one truck of wood pallets is about NT$2,000, which is costly and is not environmentally friendly. Using wood pallets for fastener delivery is definitely not recommended.
Recyclable for Environmental Protection
It has been very urgent for pallets suppliers to find new alternatives for traditional wood pallets, which already cannot satisfy the current market demand. Among so many kinds of packaging materials, “paper pallets” are proved to be the most suitable. The first reason is that paper pallets are not subject to the regulations of U.S. Department of Agriculture, which means theses pallets can be shipped freely into and out from the U.S. without the possibility of being returned by the Customs due to bugs, seeds, or fumigation tests. Moreover, abandoned paper pallets can be sold to recycling companies for US$2.5 per piece, which can not only save the cost of handling the abandoned pallets, but also generate income for the company. Other materials such as iron box, plastic pallets, MDF, etc cannot be easily recycled and may result in pollution if being burned. Paper pallets, on the contrary, are 100% recyclable, which can reduce the amount of waste, achieve the goal of environmental protection, increase customers’ satisfaction, and solve the problem for customers to handle the waste.
Strict Quality Control for Durability and No Sinking
When the paper pallet was introduced for the first time, everyone always considered it “not durable, prone to sinking, reduced strength in highly humid environment.” As a result, the first consideration in selecting superior paper pallets will be “durability.” The durability of paper pallets has to be strictly controlled in many aspects. First, they have to remain high strength in the humidity of 100% after a long period of ground/marine/air shipment and should have the maximum loading capacity of 6 tons. Second, the anti-bending strength of the pallet has to be over 1,000 kg, which is to make sure that there will be no risk of sinking during shipment.
