Emerging Trends in Southeast Asia’s Supply Chain Restructuring

Indonesia’s automotive, construction, and manufacturing sectors have been growing steadily. In recent years, the country’s annual imports of fasteners have averaged around USD 550 million, positioning Indonesia as an increasingly important emerging player in both regional and global fastener supply chains. The 2026 Fastener & Hardware Indonesia was held from May 20 to 22 at the Jakarta International Expo, attracting professionals from the fastener, tools, equipment, and hardware components industries. The exhibition served as a platform for companies and industry professionals to showcase products, innovations, and technologies, covering a wide range of fastening and fixing solutions as well as hardware and tools.

The event occupied 8,000 square meters of exhibition space and featured over 150 exhibitors, along with 15,000 visitors from 15 countries. Exhibits included a diverse array of products and solutions such as industrial fasteners, fixing components, assembly and installation systems, as well as warehousing and logistics services, highlighting the increasingly close integration between the fastener industry and the automotive, construction, and manufacturing sectors.

According to the organizer, as Indonesia’s automotive and electric vehicle industries continue to expand rapidly, local demand for high-quality industrial fasteners and fastening systems is also on the rise. As a key manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is actively promoting new energy vehicle development and industrial upgrading policies, attracting global supply chain investments. The exhibition not only serves as a gateway for companies to enter the Indonesian market but also underscores the strategic importance of ASEAN’s manufacturing sector within the global supply chain.

Based on observations from Fastener World’s exhibition staff, manufacturers, traders, and procurement representatives from Indonesia, China, India, South Korea, and across Southeast Asia actively engaged in business discussions during the event. The exhibition covered industrial fasteners, automotive fasteners, assembly systems, installation technologies, warehousing and logistics equipment, and related manufacturing technologies, providing a comprehensive view of the latest industry trends and technological applications. Business cards collected at Fastener World’s booth were primarily from local Indonesian buyers, indicating that the exhibition is a highly specialized event focused on Indonesia’s domestic automotive parts market. In addition, Indonesia’s fastener industry continues to grow steadily, driven by the automotive, construction, and manufacturing sectors. In recent years, increasing volumes of multinational procurement have shifted toward Southeast Asia, signaling an accelerating trend of regional supply chain restructuring and industrial relocation. As Indonesia’s manufacturing sector continues to expand and its automotive industry transitions toward electrification, demand for fasteners and related fastening technologies is expected to grow further.
