WAFIOS Supports the Fight Against the Coronavirus and Helps to Protect Medical Staff with Face Shields

        Through contacts with the University Hospital of Tübingen, WAFIOS came up with the idea of supporting the production of components for face shields on 3D printers.

 

        Face shields are essential to protect patients and medical staff from contamination, infection and injury. During the current corona pandemic, they provide protection against droplet infection during physical examinations and operations. Like many other medical hygiene products, it is difficult to procure the required quantities of face shields at the moment.

 

        WAFIOS immediately checked the feasibility of producing the required parts on their existing equipment. After reviewing the design data and conducting a successful test print, the Executive Board immediately granted their approval. Ever since, the printers in Plant 3 have been printing at full speed. The WAFIOS Training Center is also actively involved. Several masks can be produced simultaneously. The first 400 face shields will be delivered to the University Hospital.

 

       WAFIOS will stay in contact with the University Hospital to check if there are further possibilities to support the production of urgently needed components.
