Malaysia Launches Investigation on Stainless Steel Products Originating in China, Taiwan, Japan, and Vietnam
According to the Competition Authority of Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has recently launched antidumping investigation on stainless steel products originating in Taiwan, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Japan, China, Indonesia, South Korea, and Vietnam. The plaintiff of this case is Bahru Stainless Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.
Products involved in the investigation are within HS codes 7219.31, 7219.32, 7219.33、7219.34, 7219.35, 7220.20, AHTN 7219.31.00 00, 7210.70.90 20, and 7210.70.90 90. The dumping margin of these products is 27%.
According to the complaint lodged by the Malaysian company, Malaysia imported about 3,583 tons of stainless steel products (representing 2.8% of the total Malaysian market share) from Vietnam during the investigation. It is known that MITI has directly sent the investigative questionnaires to related Vietnamese companies and requests them to return the questionnaires before May 28th, 2015.
