Last March the Brazilian subsidiary of Honda announced a recall on models CB500 F and CB500R.
1,491 units were part of the recall. The service started from March 31. Honda informed the owners to go to one of the authorized dealers of the brand for free replacement of the fixing screws of the axes of balance located on the outside of the engine.
In mid-March, Honda called for the same problem in the United States, where 6,954 units were involved. It advised that there was no registration of the possible defect in the country and that the campaign is of a preventive nature.
According to the company, in some units the loss of tightening bolt may occur, causing leakage of engine oil and, if the total loosing occurs, the rocker shaft displacement will happen, causing sudden and irreversible shutdown of the engine, leaving it unusable.
In certain circumstances, the symptom may cause an accident with the possibility of physical injury and damage to the occupants and/or third parties.
