Argentina Drops in the Global Competitiveness Ranking
According to IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook's assessment on 60 countries, Argentina drops to 59th in the total rank, followed by Venezuela.
The assessment is based on four indicators. To elaborate in detail, Argentina ranks 55th in "economic performance", 59th in "governmental performance", 54th in "corporate performance", and 53th in "infrastructure". Argentina's competitiveness ranked 28th in 1997. The top 10 of global competitive countries are America, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Sweden, Singapore, Norway, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Germany, and Qatar. In addition, IMD compared the ranking changes between 1997 and 2013. The most improving countries are Taiwan, Germany, China, Israel, South Korea, Mexico, Poland, Sweden, and Switzerland, and the most degenerating countries are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherland, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, England, and Venezuela.
