Grand Opening of International Fastener Show Tainan Taiwan
Co-hosted by Taiwan Fastener Trading Association (TFTA) and Economic Development Bureau of Tainan City Government, the first edition of the International Fastener Show Tainan Taiwan (IFST) is to launch in Commercial Exhibition Center Tainan on April 11th, and will become the 4th largest fastener show on the globe as well as the largest international show in the history of Taiwan with over 270 corporations taking 550 booths.
According to Chairman Mr. Jim C.N. Chen, Taiwan fastener mainly relies on foreign sales, and companies have to pay multiple visits to global fastener shows every year to seek purchase orders, while on the international market many buyers are looking for appropriate suppliers as well. Due to this fact, the show draws the battle field back to southern Taiwan where domestic fastener industry conglomerates. Eighty percent of the fastener corporations located within the 50-kilometer radius of Tainan will shorten the time required for business cooperation between exhibitors and foreign buyers. If clients are interested in the products, they can go for a city tour and factory tour to gain further understanding and speed up cooperative business opportunity.
Mr. Jim points out that the volume and quality of Taiwan fastener industry should not be overlooked. If clients only search for the lowest price, China and Southeast Asia is definitely the best choice; if they focus on the highest quality instead of the price, they will be satisfied by Japan and Germany; however, if they are looking for both good quality and good prices, Taiwan is their first and only option. Therefore, Taiwan fastener market continues to catch the attention of global buyers.
Before the first edition of the show, Taiwan Industrial Fastener Institute (TIFI) has already hosted two international fastener fairs bi-annually. Mr. Jim stated that TIFI decided to host bi-annual fastener fairs for the following reasons: (1) Fastener fairs in Europe are held bi-annually (2) Taiwan fastener companies attend global fastener fairs every year, which shows that global buyers reserve quota every year for purchasing Taiwan fasteners, and (3) the two fairs hosted by TIFI made parallel performance compared to attending European fairs, which shows that through the two fairs foreign buyers can have a tour on Taiwan fastener supply chain and be satisfied by the one-stop shopping service as well as be more willing to place an order.
In addition, the IFST will be held in April to coordinate with foreign buyers’ annual procurement schedule and the opening of Canton Fair. Also, IFST spans three days to Saturday so that domestic small scale buyers can visit and purchase. IFST not only exhibits fastener products but also wires and peripheral equipment to offer satisfactory and comprehensive procuring experience to buyers.
In response to the shift to the second generation in the Taiwan fastener industry, the organizer arranged a variety of seminar speeches to base business practices on constructive theories. Besides, Mr. Jim recruits the second generation to volunteer for the show to take on the duty of the manufacturing industry, get in touch with the global trend, and flourish the fastener industry.
