German Auto Accessories Manufacturer Continental Accelerates Growth in China

German automotive accessories manufacturer Continental Corp. faces an acceleration of business growth in China, expecting to hire 5,000 more employees to reach a total of 20,000 in 2012. Joined in the Chinese market in 1994, Continental hired less than 9,000 employees in China by 2009, but with a strong growth in recent years, the company today has 167,000 employees worldwide. Its 2011 turnover achieved EUR30.5 billion, as one of the world’s top auto accessories manufacturers. Continental’s business in China mainly focuses on the production of tires of autos and bicycles, including 18 manufacturing factories and 10 R&D centers. In addition, in the last several years, Continental has actively participated in the business of tires for electric cars and will continue to expand the business of tires for two-wheel vehicles and electric cars in 2012.
