Fastenal Reports 2012 Q1 Sales

The Fastenal Company of Winona, MN (Nasdaq:FAST) reported the results of the quarter ended March 31, 2012. Sales for Q1 were USD768.8 million, up 20 % from Q1 of 2011. Profit was USD100.2 million.
On March 31, 2012, Fastenal had 2,611 stores. During the first three months of 2012, the company opened 28 new stores, an increase of 1.1% since December 31, 2011. On March 31, 2012, Fastenal had 15,483 employees, an increase of 2.1% since December 31, 2011.
Daily sales to manufacturing customers (50% of Fastenal’s business) grew 20.3% in Q1. Daily sales to non-residential construction customers, representing 20~25% of business, were up 17.!% in Q1, consistent with quarterly daily sales trends in 2011.
