The Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) of Taiwan reported that the GDP growth of Taiwan in Q3 this year exceeded the original expectation and reached 3.8%, up 0.49% from this August's forecast (3.31%). There was an increase in export but weak consumers' expenses partially offset the growth.

The full-year GDP growth of Taiwan is expected to reach 5.88% this year, but given the higher-than-expected GDP growth in Q3, the full-year growth may reach 6.01% if the GDP growth in Q4 remains at 4.01% as estimated.

The Covid pandemic has cooled down global economic activities and smashed the global economic growth rate to -3.4%. Taiwan did really well in virus prevention and manufacturing activities operate as usual. Taiwan is now one of the few growing economies in the world and has strong momentum for export.
