Severstal-Metiz Uses New Italian Roller Hearth Furnace

The Cherepovetsk city plant of Severstal-Metiz Group (part of Severstal Severstal Russian Steel) starts to use roller hearth furnace for producing large metal coils. 

A recent relevant test announced that the products meet all major standards. Such furnace can smelt metals of several technical standards. The currently steel metal under processing mainly consists of carbon steel, alloy steel and bearing steel.

This new large equipment (weight: 200 tons; height: 67 meters) has 2~3 times higher production efficiency comparing to the furnace used before. The major advantage lies in the processing of large metal coils. In this manner, metal coils below 2.5 tons can be smelted and does not require cutting in advance, therefore enhancing production efficiency substantially.

Under the instruction of Italian operating experts, the plant workers have learned to operate major principles. The old operation required 2~3 people; however, the use of new equipment now only requires one person.
