PrimeSource Brands Expands Outdoor Fastener Portfolio with Starborn Acquisition

PrimeSource Brands, a North American supplier of branded specialty building products backed by Clearlake Capital Group, has acquired Starborn Industries, a leading provider of branded fastening solutions and installation systems for decking and exterior applications. Financial terms were not disclosed. Based in Edison, New Jersey, Starborn develops fasteners and installation tools primarily for residential decking and outdoor construction. Its product portfolio includes PRO PLUG®, CAP-TOR® xd, HEADCOTE®, SMART-BIT® and DECKFAST®.
PrimeSource CEO Tom Koos said Starborn’s focus on innovation, quality and service complements the company’s existing fastener and outdoor living businesses. The acquisition also expands PrimeSource’s offering alongside brands such as Grip-Rite, Cobra and Wolf.
For Clearlake Capital, the transaction represents another step in its strategy to strengthen PrimeSource as a scaled specialty building products platform, particularly in the outdoor living segment. The Starborn deal marks PrimeSource Brands’ 11th acquisition since partnering with Clearlake in December 2020.
