Anshan President Xiaogang Zhang to Take Up Chairman of Worldsteel

The production output of the corporate members of WorldSteelAssociation (Worldsteel) accounts for 85% of the global gross steel output. The members of Worldsteel cover almost 170 steelmakers (including the 18 manufacturers of the 20 largest global steel corporations), countries and regional steel industry associations and steel research institutes. The 45th Worldsteel annual meeting was held on October 12 in Paris, France. During the meeting, Dr. Xiaogang Zhang, General Manager of Anshan Iron and Steel Group Corporation was elected as new Chairman of Worldsteel; the term of office is one year. Dr. Zhang is the first Chinese industry CEO who takes the post of Chairman. Also, the new Vice Chairmen elected were Hajime Bada, President & CEO of JFE Holdings Inc. and Alexey Mordashov, CEO of Severstal Russia Steel.
