The Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT) under Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs supports Ting Sin Co. (a major Taiwanese aluminum alloy manufacturer) in setting up Taiwan's first continuous casting and rolling production line of aluminum alloy wire rods. The IATF16949 certificate has been acquired to allow for mass-supply of aluminum alloy fasteners to downstream companies, and grab a share in the EV market.

The use of lightweight aluminum alloy on car body and chassis components is gradually increasing. Using conventional steel fasteners to assemble aluminum alloy components could lead to galvanic corrosion and structural damage to products, so the automotive industry needs to develop automotive aluminum alloy fasteners. To that, the lightweight automotive fasteners made of aluminum alloys co-developed by Ting Sin and DoIT can reduce over 10% weight from car body and chassis, cut down automotive energy consumption and reduce over 10 tons of annual car carbon emission in Taiwan.

Ting Sin invested over NTD 200 million in the said production line which has the advantage of price and domestic production that can compensate for the shortage of materials. The company expects to produce 12,000 tons of aluminum alloy wire rods per year and generate a production value of NTD 1.44 billion.
