Car Production in Thailand Reaches Over 180 Thousand Units This Feb., up 2.71% from the Same Period Last Year
Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) reported that the cumulative car production in Thailand in the first 2 months of 2019 reached 362,666 units of vehicles, up 5.29% from the same period last year. The production in Feb. 2019 eached 183,071 units of vehicles, up 2.71% from the same period last year. 82,324 units were sold in domestic Thailand, up 9.1% from the same period last year, while 105,500 units were exported to other countries, down 1.63% from the same period last year.
According to “The Universal Daily News” in Thailand, FTI noted in its report that Thailand continues to show positive growth in various aspects, the Thai Government is active in proposing big infrastructure projects and the investments made by private businesses are increasing as well. At the same time, FTI is also confident that after the domestic Election, the Consumer’s Confidence Index will turn well and the number of tourists coming to Thailand will also increase.
As for the reduction in export volume, it may have been resulted from the decreasing export volume to Australia, Africa, Latin America and South America, where the economic growth is slowing down. However, Thai’s car export to Asia, the Middle East, the EU and N. America remains positive growth. This Feb. the total value of Thai’s car export reached over 49 bn bahts, down 6.16% from the same period last year. In general, in the first 2 months of 2019 Thailand exported 182,133 units of vehicles to the world, down 1.17% from the same period last year and the total export value reached over 89.8 bn bahts, down 4.69% from the same period last year.
