Toyota 4Runners with Roof Racks That Could Detach While in Motion Recalled
Gulf States Toyota is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Toyota 4Runner vehicles equipped with the TFORCE accessory package. The fasteners for the aftermarket roof rack may have been improperly tightened. If the roof rack fasteners loosen, the roof rack may detach from the vehicle while it is in motion—increasing the risk of a crash. Approximately 1,020 Toyota 4Runner vehicles are affected by this recall. Gulf States will notify owners of the recalled vehicles beginning on June 1, 2017. Dealers will then inspect and tighten the roof rack fasteners as necessary. This repair will be competed free of charge to vehicle owners.
