Roughness of Fastener Surface

Recently, there are some issues among standards for expressing surface roughness requirements. In my professional experience, I also frequently see many incorrect expressions. Therefore, this paper proposes a new descriptive method through practical case discussion. Literally, surface roughness means how rough a surface is. It directly affects abrasiveness, reliability, fatigue, impermeability, thermal conductivity, and driving precision of fastener surface. Therefore, surface roughness is a key index for evaluating fastener surface quality. Moreover, it is now an indispensable geometric requirement in Taiwanese fastener industry.
