It’s normal for a modern stamping or roll forming plant to embrace the headaches and shoulder the costs necessary to deal with large amounts of fluids and lubricants as a typical part of doing business. In recent decades, lubrication and its related costs account for as much as 25% of total manufacturing costs. The plant of the future however, has to give careful evaluation to all existing and potential cost centers. It also needs to embrace environmental stewardship. But at the end of the day it still must produce quality parts and turn a profit – a proposition becoming more and more unwieldy in today’s manufacturing climate.
