JAMA Forecasts Domestic Automotive Demand will Drop 5% in 2015

JAMA (Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association) recently released an automotive demand forecast for 2015. Because of last-minute demand and the subsequent rebound, automotive demand in 2015 is forecast to drop 5% to 4.992 million units. The same reason coupled with increased consumption tax also drops automotive demand in 2014 by 7.3% to 5.275 million units. Although the industry expects the situation to recover slowly, increased tax on light-weight cars is expected to result in flat and lower automotive demand compared to the previous year.
