Omnipotent Fastener Manufacturer

Shin Chun Introduces All Staff Quality Control and Gets Key Automotive Screw Orders

by Tanya Shih, Fastener World Inc.

Shin Chun Enterprise Co., Ltd is situated in the manufacturing heartland of Taiwanese fastener industry. It is good at utilizing resources in the industry cluster, consolidating upstream and downstream partnership, implementing internal management, fulfilling all staff quality control, and increasing flexibility in cooperation. As a result, Shin Chun, founded in 2003, can soon be certified by TS 16949 in 2007 and keeps the annual sales growth at about 15%.

Fastener Manufacturer for Construction, Electronics, and Automotive Industries

Shin Chun is specialized in production of fasteners. It has over 100 employees working in a 12,562 sq. m factory and provides production, inspection, and shipment service of drywall, plasterboard, steel plate, concrete, machine, automotive, and customized screws.

General Manager Paul Chuang is adept in locating and keeping talented persons, so the succession of the company’s manufacturing and R&D technology can continue. The experience and ability to develop new items of Shin Chun successfully promoted the company’s products to other applications such as construction, electronics, machine tools, and automobiles, making Shin Chun the “omnibearing fastener manufacturer.”

“Customers Lead You to Water, But They Can’t Make You Drink”

That Shin Chun has been certified by ISO 9001:2008, TS 16949:2009, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 17025:2005 emphasizes the importance of “product quality, environmental protection, and safety of working environment” to Shin Chun.

Perhaps, some people may say that there were not much difficult time for Shin Chun’s entering the automotive fastener business, compared to other fastener manufacturers. But that was not true. “Building a system is the hardest part.” General Manager Chuang recalled his nervousness when he first got an order for automotive fasteners in 2007 from one of his U.S. customers, who has cooperated with Shin Chun since the establishment and who used to buy small construction screws.

Before saying “yes” to that order, Chuang had realized that the system in the company had to be re-built. In order to satisfy customers’ demand for high quality, manufacturing staff have to ensure serious inspection of the quality of semi-finished and finished products in production. Chuang added, “Customers lead you to water, but they can’t make you drink.” The current orders of Shin Chun are mostly from Europe, USA, and Japan.

European and US Automotive Markets Show Bigger Potential

Chuang says, “Any change in parts can affect the assembly of a car. As a result, car manufacturers propose production plans on a long term basis and will not recklessly change the specification of any part. The characteristics of automotive fasteners include a long lifecycle of products and a certain level of entry barrier and customers will always require the submission of PPAP reports from manufacturers.” That is to say, the automotive fasteners field won’t be easy, as it will be a new market segment for any newcomer. However, the current production and sales reports reveal growth in the global automotive market and increasing demand in Europe and USA. Manufacturers should do more with active arrangement.
