ACEA: China Replaces Europe as Largest Car Manufacturing Region
European Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (ACEA) currently announced that since last year China has replaced Europe as the largest car manufacturing region in the world. ACEA said, last year China produced 18 million units of cars, significantly exceeding the record of 14.6 million units of cars produced in Europe in the same year. The car production of Europe last year was almost in a stagnant status, so China could take the 1st place. According to the data released by ACEA, the car production of China in 2013 totaled 18,041,859 units (sharing 27.6% of the global car production).
The total production in the BRIC region reached 25,886,146 units (sharing 39.6% of the global car production). In addition to China, India shares 4.8%, Brazil at 4.2%, Russia at 2.9%, and 22.3% for the entire Europe with production of 14,616,202 units.
As for Japan sharing 12.5%, it produced 8,189,323 units of cars (incl. mini cars below 660c.c.); production within NAFTA reached 7,084,136 units (representing 10.8% of the global car production); S. Korea also takes 6.3% with production of 4,122,604 units; other remaining regions share 8.5% and reached 5,534,876 units.
