Würth Group 2013 sales slipped away from the 10 billion euros goal, which has now eluded it for two years. Group sales totaled 9.74 billion euros 2.4% down on 2012's 9.98 billion euros. While sales stagnated, however, the group's operating performance improved, with expectations the operating result will range between 440 - 450 million euros, a 6% increase over 2012 (415 million euros). Group employee numbers reduced by 2.5% to 63,571 worldwide during 2013.

Würth invested 400 million euros in 2013, which included the distribution centre at Gaisbach and the opening of ninety new offices worldwide. Chairman of the central managing board, Robert Friedmann, said: "The positive sales development in the fourth quarter of 2013 makes us optimistic that we will achieve our plans in 2014". As well as getting to the 10 billion euros sales figure, Würth is looking to better 500 million euros operating result. It plans to recruit 1,800 additional sales people and to further develop its e-business operations.
