Honda’s Parts Procurement in N. America Breaks USD300 Billion
According to a report released on Japanese Esponse on April 24, the parts procurement of Honda in N. America accumulated in the past 35 years has been over USD300 billion (roughly RMB1,871 billion). The number of local suppliers providing parts to Honda has been over 650.
Honda started the manufacturing of motorbikes in the plant based in Marysville, Ohio in 1979 and began to manufacture cars there in 1983 as a Japanese car manufacturer. After then, Honda gradually extended its procurement in N. America. In addition to the plant in Ohio, Honda also has plants in Alabama, Indiana, Georgia, S. & N. Carolina.
As is reported, the total production of Honda in N. America in 2013 reached 1.78 million units, the highest record in history. At the same time, Honda’s procurement in the local market also broke the record to be over USD25.5 billion (roughly RMB159 billion).
