Canada Initiates Dual Expiry Reviews of Carbon Steel Fasteners from China and Taiwan
On April 23rd, 2014, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced to initiate the expiry review of antidumping measures against carbon steel fasteners from China and Taiwan and will also initiate the expiry review of countervailing duties against carbon steel fasteners from China. Products involved fall within HS codes 73181100, 73181200, 73181400, 73181500, and 73181600. The expiry reviews are especially for the final determination made on Jan. 6th, 2010 for carrying out antidumping and countervailing duties against carbon and stainless steel fasteners from China and Taiwan that are believed to have caused material injury to local industries.
CBSA will determine on Aug. 21, 2014 if there exists any possibility of the continuation of dumping and subsidies. If the answer is positive, the International Trade Tribunal will make a determination on Jan. 5, 2015 to make sure if there exists any possibility of damage or threat of damage when dumping or subsidies continues.
During the previous investigation, Gem-Year Industrial and Jiashin-based Robertson Inc. were both active in participating in the investigation and have respectively gained the antidumping duties of 10.01% and 3.94% while the other companies which did not participate in the investigation are subject to the duty of 170%.
