South Africa Raises Import Tariff for Certain Fasteners by 20%
International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) accepted the petition from South African companies who requested that the tariff for certain fasteners imported to South Africa should be subject to 30% duty rather than the previous 10%, and the investigation was initiated on May 24, 2013.
In order to protect the interests of Taiwanese companies, Taiwan Industrial Fasteners Institute wrote to Taiwan Bureau of Foreign Trade on July 16, 2013 asking the Bureau to require ITAC abide by the regulations of WTP and should not raise the import tariff.
ITAC announced on March 7, 2014 that it would raise the import tariff for certain fasteners by 20%. Products involved are as follows:
73181539- Other screws, full threaded with hexagon heads (excluding those of stainless steel),
73181543- Other bolts(excluding bolt ends, screw studs and screw studding) with hexagon heads,
73181680- nuts (not especially specified by the government of South Africa
