U.S. Federal Aviation Administration days ago announced that it would propose a civil penalty against the issue in regard to quality control of certain fasteners used on the Boeing 777 long-haul airliners. The Boeing 777 airliners had been installed nonconforming fasteners until it was discovered in September 2008. However, the plan to solve the issue was not implemented until November 2010. A representative from the FAA said in an interview that although Boeing had setting deadlines to fix the issue, it continued to miss the deadlines until more than 2 years later, so it decided to fine Boeing for US$2.75 million.
