Foreign Countries Remain High Interests in Launching Plants in São Paulo
São Paulo is always the main state of auto manufacturing in Brazil. The volume of auto manufacturing locally in 1990s accounted for 74.8% of Brazil’s production; however, as Minas Gerais, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and Paraná have started to provide the auto industry with the tax relief since 2000, several auto factories were set up in the states excluding São Paulo, which led to the gradual decreasing percentage of auto numbers manufactured in São Paulo, down 42.4% in 2011.
Although the percentage of auto numbers manufactured in São Paulo decreases year-by-year, Toyota (Japan), Hyundai (Korea) and Chery (China) all plan to launch new plants here; moreover, Volkswagen also plans to expand its plant in Taubate and Sao Bernando do Campo, São Paulo.
