KSK Develops New Connection Technology
Keihin Seimitsu Kogyo Co., Ltd. has developed the new technology of tightened connection which is able to hold two metal parts together without using fasteners such as screws. The technology drives a round bar shaped part (shaft part) into the hole of a holed part, making the part which is softer undergo plastic deformation to produce mechanical binding force. At present, the company has already begun the trial production of automotive gear stick samples.
It is reported that applying the new connection technology to fasteners such as screws can not only reduces the usage amount of fasteners but also lighten 20% of the total weight of parts.
