Taiwan as Fifth Largest Importer for Bulgaria
Though with a population of only over 7 million, Bulgaria still demands for fastener import. Entering the EU in 2007, the country has accepted a great number of annual financial aid from the EU and its infrastructure construction is prosperous. The market demand for fasteners in Bulgaria is about EUR80 million (about 22,000 metric tons). Since the domestic manufacturing industry is not flourishing, high added-value fasteners such as auto/motorcycle fasteners, artificial tooth roots and different special fasteners have a great potential in the local markets.
Benefited from the financial aid from the EU spurring the domestic infrastructure, the fastener import value has grown annually. In 2011, the fastener import value was USD70.87 million, up 93% over 2010. Taiwan is the fifth largest importer for Bulgaria (accounting for 4.5%), the first four in order are Italy (20.6%), Germany, (19.8%), Romania (19.1%) and Austria (11.8%).
