Greenhouse Gases Listed as Pollutants
Environmental Protection Administration Executive Yuan, Taiwan (EPA) announced that the six greenhouse gases regulated by the Kyoto Protocol such as carbon dioxide are now listed as “Air Pollutants.” From now on, EPA will supervise the carbon emissions of enterprises according to this announcement, including restricting the carbon footprint, imposing air pollution tax or energy tax, etc. Taiwan enterprises will face carbon reduction tasks.
EPA plans to request the major carbon emission sectors, such as cement, steel, petrifaction, and semiconductor industries to declare their carbon footprints from January of 2013.
