Industrial Rivet & Fastener Company, a global manufacturer, distributor and importer of quality rivets and fastening systems, announced that it is expanding its product line with a new family of battery-operated riveting tools, FreeSet®.

 

According to Vice President Steven Sherman, FreeSet is game changing technology. “Up until now, cordless riveters have failed to compare to their pneumatic counterparts in terms of power and efficiency,” he explains. “FreeSet, however, changes all that – setting rivets, rivet nuts and lockbolts at the same speeds and strength as pneumatic tools.” This, he says, gives manufacturers and distributors the productivity they need combined with greater mobility on the production line, with ‘go anywhere’ capabilities.

 

In addition to the logistical advantages of being untethered from cords, FreeSet also helps companies reduce operating costs. “The compressed air lines necessary to run pneumatic tools are notoriously leaky and require constant maintenance,” says Sherman.

 

FreeSet is the first tool of its kind to include hand-held error proofing technology; process controls are integrated directly into the tool to tell users when a set is good or bad with easy to read “OK” or “Not OK” indicators. An onboard barcode reader lets users pre-program and customize the tool, enabling them to define parameters for multiple jobs and functions and easily switch between them as needed. Plus, FreeSet connects to computers via USB as well as WiFi, the latter of which allows relevant departmental data to be captured in real time.
