INTERNATIONAL FASTENER SHOW CHINA 2026

AI and Robotics Trends are Driving Fastener Technology Transformation

Organized by the industry’s leading associations and themed “An Exhibition for the Fastener Industry and Enterprises,” the annual International Fastener Show China opened its doors on May 20–22 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC). The event showcased fastener materials, standard/custom fasteners, automotive/aerospace/construction/military fasteners, industry-specific fasteners, stamped parts, machined parts, military equipment, instruments, consumables, heat treatment, packaging technology services, and tools/assembly, installation, and maintenance.

To keep pace with innovation and the latest industry trends, this year’s event not only continued to feature the existing Hall 1 (equipment, wire, molds, and consumables) and Hall 2 (finished fasteners), a brand-new Hall 3 was specially added to showcase more cutting-edge fastener technologies, high-end fasteners, and smart manufacturing brands (the organizers designed this zone to break away from the framework of a purely product-focused exhibition, creating a differentiated area integrating product features with industry trends). With a total exhibition area of approximately 60,000 sq. m, 1,300 exhibitors, and 2,500 standard booths booked, the event attracted many senior executives and influential representatives from procurement and R&D departments across diverse industrial sectors.

According to observations by Fastener World’s on-site staff, since AI technology and robotics have been hot topics in the Chinese market in recent years, the fastener industry has also been influenced by this major market trend. Consequently, many local manufacturers are actively working to transform and innovate in areas related to manufacturing, product technology, and design applications. Some exhibitors in the fastener exhibition area even arranged for robots to interact with visiting customers. Booth presentations were also evolving rapidly. This year, many unique booths moved away from the traditional poster-display model, instead, they adopted new materials such as stretched fabric for booth decoration, giving the overall brand image a fresh, revitalized look, demonstrating that Chinese manufacturers are keeping pace with the times in terms of adopting innovative concepts and applying new technologies.

However, while the number of exhibitors and visitors on-site remained substantial, there were signs that international visitor numbers had declined compared to the previous edition, likely due to the global economic downturn and unfavorable market conditions. In terms of product categories, the machinery and equipment section appeared to attract a livelier crowd than the general fastener products area. The exhibition halls on the second floor featured numerous delegations from Jiashan and Zhejiang, showcasing the diversity of the fastener industry across China’s various provinces.
Some exhibitors at the event noted that this exhibition is one of the largest and most representative trade shows in China’s fastener industry. It offers them valuable opportunities to understand and monitor the latest trends and demands within the Chinese fastener sector, as well as to expand their horizons toward Asian and global markets. However, since there is another specialized fastener exhibition in Shanghai in June—which is similar in nature and held around the same time—exhibitors may tend to choose the most suitable event to attend in the future. The organizer has not yet announced the dates or details for the next edition. For more information, please keep yourself updated at www.fastener-world.com.
