Silicon bronze fasteners are excellent for use in many marine and commercial applications which was made from copper with silicon added for strength. Silicon bronze is known as a high-strength alloy, having a several important factors including high conductivity, excellent corrosion resistant to sea water, gases, sewage and atmospheric conditions. Silicon bronze carriage Bolts are used for medium to heavy fastening of deck beams, engine beds and planks on larger vessels. Carriage bolts are designed for fastening both hardwoods and softwoods. The short square shank under the head of carriage bolt prevents it from turning while the nut is being tightened. This allows the face of the bolt to have no drive, leaving a slightly raised smooth finished head.
