Benefited by the current depreciation of NTD as well as the price increase of stainless steel, the gross profit of Rodex increased from 11.92% in Q4 to 14.26% and the quarterly revenue increased by 76.5%. In addition, the profit resulted from currency exchange in Q1 reached nearly NTD16 million, pushing the net profit after tax in Q1 to increase 215.4% with the EPS in Q1 reaching NTD0.68, which was a substantial increase over NTD0.22 in Q4 last year.

The revenue of Rodex in Q1 also increased 2.2%. When its Taiwanese factories continue to accept orders steadily, the orders from Europe to its factories in Thailand and Indonesia also look well. Furthermore, the increasing stainless steel price and the impact of depreciated NTD both forced the gross profit of Rodex in Q1 to increase.

In Q2 Rodex expects to be as in Q1. In the first 4 months of 2013, its Taiwan factories and overseas factories will continue to maintain profits and it is expected that the situation will be the same in May. Although the current nickel price is weak, it is still at USD15-16 thousand/ton. If the fluctuation is not too much, in Q2 Rodex can still have the profit.
